I conduct research on the floristics, ecology and taxonomy of the flora of Central Africa, especially Katanga (RDC). In particular, I am focusing on the flora of Cu-Co contaminated soil. In collaboration with the University of Lubumbashi, I am developing a research on the ecology of the miombo woodlands. I am a coauthor of the book “Arbres et arbustes du Haut-Katanga”.

My research seeks to understand and predict how and why spatio-temporal dynamics in vegetation and landscape occur, with the main focus on mangrove forests. I manage the Mangrove Herbarium that is linked to the online database of the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and that includes distribution data of true mangrove species.

Curator of the Herbarium since 2005, I have ensured the proper availability of botanical specimens to researchers and visitors. To do so, I ensure their preparation on bristol, their digitisation, their classification, their preservation as well as their diffusion. Rigour, care, archiving and toughness are required for this unusual profession.

My researches focus on the systematic of African angraecoid Orchids, and the assessment of the floristic and vegetation diversity in West and Central Africa. I also use these data for conservation planning and actions, with a special interest in the ex situ conservation of African orchids.

I am involved in several projects (RAINBIO project and taxonomic revision) that rely on the specimens stored at BRLU, with a focus on central African plants. Together with Tariq Stévart and Geoffrey Fadeur I am also managing the unique Central African tree collection that stores ca. 5,000 specimens linked with tree inventories and plot data.

My research addresses the evolutionary and the biogeographical processes in the Atlantic Central Africa. Using the genus Tridactyle Schltr. as a model, I will test different evolutionary scenarios regarding the relationship between São Tomé & Príncipe and the mainland. These will be examined at inter- and intraspecific levels.

My research interests revolve around the pollination biology and taxonomy of African angraecoid orchids. For my PhD, I’m investigating the role of the rostellum in mediating orchid-pollinator interactions and its usefulness in reconstructing the phylogeny of the genus Rhipidoglossum Schltr..

My research aims to understand the mechanisms leading territories to be highly diversified in endemic species. I am trying to delimitate areas and centres of endemism of Gabon and to investigate correlations between ecological/functional traits with the distribution of species.

My research project aims to conduct innovative researches in taxonomy, biogeography and reproductive biology of epiphytic orchids. Using as a model group the genus Cyrtorchis Schltr., I aim to contribute to a better conservation of the African orchids.

My research focuses on resolving the generic and subgeneric taxonomy of an Angraecum Bory group. I am working on three related sections of this genus, following a morphological approach to find characters that could best circumscribe their limits and explain the newly obtained phylogeny.

My current work at the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (France) deals with the study of biogeographical patterns of plants in Africa, using Orchidaceae as a model family. I am also focusing a large part of my research on identifying priority species and areas for conservation.

My research aims to delimitate species within the African tree genus Santiria (Burseraceae). The assessment of species delimitation is conducted combining field survey, morphological analyses and genetic data. Three species were found in West Central Africa which occur in sympatry.
